Course content:

Learn how Mercy’s approach toward performance management and evolution is transforming the organization and see and hear how they use financial, operational, and clinical data to inform their decisions.

In this webinar, discover how Mercy Health uses benchmarking data to identify real bottom-line operational savings. Nancy Hoffman will share how the system discovered substantial savings potential in unexpected places—like shipping and delivers. Mercy also used analytics to evaluate their sepsis cases so they could make internal comparisons at the physician level and examine drug utilization, undertake a carepath revamp, and look at opportunities compared to their peers.

Presenters:

Nancy Hoffman, Executive Director – Financial Operations Analytics, Mercy Health

Nancy Hoffman is a finance professional with 25 years of experience, 18 years of which have been with Mercy Health System. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Financial Operations Analytics for the health ministry.

Starting as a Senior Accountant and progressing through number of roles, from Applications Analyst to Director of Financial Analysis and Budget, Nancy has always focused on supporting hospital operations with financial and operational analysis, planning and performance improvement; particularly regarding labor, supply and other expense stewardship initiatives. She now leads the Ministry’s Financial Performance and Decision Support teams. These teams partner with senior Operational and Quality leaders to develop and provide financial and clinical service line analytics, benchmarking and performance improvement support across Mercy’s 41 hospitals and over 900 physician practices and outpatient facilities.
